Over the last little while I’ve been working with my very talented friend and rapper Dartel, the first artist on 80HD, to create his debut EP, entitled “Shoot For The Moon”. These are just a few photos that kinda tell the backstory behind the name of the EP. When me and Dart first started working together over a year ago, the very first beat I ever gave him was this intro-type track. As most producers will tell you, the hardest part of making a beat is trying to find a name for it. So in the spur of the moment I called it “Shoot For The Moon”, which is part of a quote written on a canvas (given to me by one of my best friends Leigh-Ann, who was the one who introduced me and Dartel in the first place) that hangs in my little studio. Dart ended up writing to it and creating what would become the intro to the EP. Then he came back to me and said he wanted to call the EP Shoot For The Moon. I thought it was a fantastic idea, and it’s an ethos that’s kinda underpinned all our music and efforts on this first EP.
This week the entire project will be mastered and the EP trailer will be released in March. The EP itself (6 songs) is to be released for free download on the full moon in April (07.04.2012).
It’s the first full project that I’ve recorded, mixed, and produced from start to finish - and I think it’s brilliant. I’m so excited for the world to hear it, and I really hope you like what we’ve created. Be sure to subscribe to the 80HD blog to keep up to date with all our progress leading up to release.
